ESOL courses are designed for learners whose first language is not English. Currently, it is used for someone who is learning English as a new resident in an English-speaking country. Learners develop their reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills in the English language as well as their knowledge of language.<\/p>\n

These ESOL qualifications correspond with levels A1 to C1 on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).<\/p>\n

Outcomes and Standards in ESOL:<\/p>\n

To understand written English, <\/span><\/b>identify main point, purpose, skim ,scan, recognise opinions, extract key information.<\/span>\u200b<\/p>\n

To produce written English<\/span><\/b>, good punctuation, grammar, spelling, layout, formal, informal emails, letters, blogs and online reviews.<\/span>\u200b<\/p>\n

To understand spoken language<\/span><\/b>, identifying main points, context, purpose of monologue, interaction.<\/span>\u200b<\/p>\n

To communicate orally<\/span><\/b>, appropriate structures, vocabulary, conveying meaning, initiate and sustain interaction<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The variations between the different ESOL Levels are quite clear.
ESOL National 2 involves basic language while National 3 concerns simple language.
ESOL National 4 covers straightforward language and ESOL National 5 focuses on complex language.
ESOL Higher involves much more complex and detailed language.<\/p>\n
