At Dairsie, we build strong foundations in literacy through a rich and engaging curriculum. Our approach combines a love of reading, a clear structure for writing and a focus on purposeful listening and talking. We use the Rocket Phonics programme to support early reading and spelling, ensuring consistent progression in phonics from P1 onwards.
Children learn to write across nine key text types, using Talk for Writing strategies to help them internalise language patterns, build ideas and develop confidence as writers. Listening and talking are embedded in all areas of learning, with regular opportunities for discussion, debate, performance and storytelling. From creative writing to persuasive texts, reading for pleasure to research skills, literacy at Dairsie equips our learners with the tools they need to express themselves clearly and confidently in a range of contexts.
