In the event of a school closure we have a number contingencies in place for pupils to be able to access learning from home. These are based on Seesaw, Teams, Groupcall and the School Website. We make use of these platforms through the year (the platform being used depends on your child’s age and stage) and it is important that you and your child know how to log on and use the platform so that you are ready in the event of a school closure.
Primary 1-4
Tasks will be set on SeeSaw, you can contact the teacher with any questions about the task or to share examples of learning. This will be the format for learning for the duration of the closure – all other enquiries should go to the school office as usual.
Primary 5-7
Depending on the stage in the school year and the length of the closure, tasks will be set on Microsoft Teams through GLOW. All children will know how to log on independently and should go in regularly from home so that they don’t forget how to do it. Your child will be able to access their assignments on GLOW and submit them to get feedback from a teacher. They can ask a question in the chat if they need some help and a teacher will reply.
Safe Use Policy
The safe use policy for Seesaw is posted in your child’s journal.
GLOW/Teams: access to GLOW/Teams is only for school staff and pupils. This is to keep it a safe and controlled communication platform for Scotland’s children. Your child should not share their password with you and you should not log on for them. They can log on with you beside them and once logged in you can work together on Teams but when finished they should log out and no parent should access GLOW/Teams without their child.
Family Learning pages
The Family Learning pages are also available for occasions when children at are home on a school day but teaching staff cannot post learning on Seesaw, class page or GLOW.
Every school closure looks a bit different – the exact details of how much work will be posted and by whom will vary for closure to closure and parents will get more up to date information via Groupcall on a case by case basis.
