Thank you.

Absences: Please notify the school by contacting the office before 9am on first day of absence. A letter of explanation for absence should be given on child’s return. Holidays are recorded as Unauthorised Absences. It is important that your child arrives promptly for a 9am start. Late arrivals are also recorded. If your child has an appointment through the school day they must be collected from the office. We cannot send children home during the school day. Parents/carers of P1 parents should inform the school in writing if their child is to walk home on their own or with an older sibling.

PE Kit: Short sleeved t-shirt which is long enough to cover the waist, plain shorts and gym shoes. All gym shoes must be in a safe condition. PE is recognised as a National Priority therefore children will participate unless injured or the school receives written permission from parents. A collection of gym wear will be used to ensure your child is not excluded through lack of kit. Contributions of shorts and t-shirts would be appreciated. Earrings and other jewellery must not be worn. Parents are advised that any ear piercing is carried out at the start of the summer holidays so that earrings can be easily removed for PE. Taping earrings is acceptable for gym sessions for a short period if required. Long hair should be tied back.

Labelling Clothes: It is very important that all items of clothing and footwear are clearly and permanently labelled. A huge amount of lost property is disposed of each year. Children must be responsible for their property.

Outdoor Clothing: please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for changeable weather. As health promoting school we encourage outdoor play whenever possible and your child may have to play outside in wet weather. Keeping a change of clothes in their school bag is very helpful.

Valuables: Children should not bring any valuables to school e.g. rings, electronic games etc. Mobile phones must be handed in to the child’s teacher before the start of the school day and collected at 3pm.

Homework: Please sign homework when satisfied with the standard of your child’s homework and if you wish to add a comment. Homework is an essential part of learning and an opportunity for children to share school work with parents. We would encourage parents to continue to read to their children a variety of materials, comics, books and news papers.

Unfinished Tasks: Will be sent home to complete. This will alert parents to their child not making efficient use of time in class. If unfinished work is becoming a regular occurrence we would arrange a meeting to discuss possible steps to take to ensure appropriate support.

Behaviour: The school promotes a positive approach to behaviour as stated in the parent leaflet “Good to Be Green”. We work in partnership with parents and ask you to contact the school if you have any concerns.

Talk Leaflets P1 – P7: These leaflets will be sent home regularly for parents to see a sample of their child’s work. Please sign and add comments. We welcome feedback which helps your child with their learning.

Learning Logs: Pupils Learning Logs are sent home twice a year to share with parents. Learning Logs show pupils reflection and evaluation of Learning in School.

Car Park: Unfortunately we do not have car parking for parents within our grounds with exception of disabled. We would ask you to use the pathways when walking into school. This will ensure the safety of all children.

Breakfast Club: Collydean operates a Breakfast Club each morning. The cost is 55p which provides cereal, toast, margarine, jam and a drink. Please note that if attending Breakfast Club, children should arrive NO EARLIER THAN 8.15AM to ensure there is adequate staff cover in place. Your child’s safety is paramount.

Appointments: Whilst we encourage partnership with parents we ask that you make appointments to speak to class teachers or management team. We shall do our best to meet on the same day. This allows cover to be arranged to free up the staff member concerned.

MILK: Is £0.25 per day, to be paid in full on Ipayimpact before the term begins. A text and email will be sent to remind parents when the payment to available to pay.

DINNERS: £2.40 a meal.
