All our P6 and P7 children have the opportunity to participate in Peer Mediation Training.
Peer mediation is a process by which children themselves help their peers resolve conflict in a constructive, non-violent way. It involves two trained mediators helping their peers deal with conflict through a series of mediation steps.
Peer mediation helps young people develop
• New skills
• Team work
• A different way of thinking
• Negotiation skills
• Emotional intelligence
• Problem-solving skills
• A recognition that they are taken seriously, resulting in
increased confidence and self-esteem.
How Peer Mediation works…
Using mediation skills and techniques helps everyone work
from the same starting point. There is a common language.
Everyone understands the rules and participates in the same
training.
