‘To be the best we can be’

Our Values

In 2023, We consulted with our staff, children and families to refresh our school values. Our Values are at the centre of everything we do in our school.

Respect    Kindness     Responsible

Our Vision

The children, staff and parents at Coaltown of Wemyss Primary School are a strong team who work extremely well together to create a positive ethos and a successful learning experience for our children and Families. Our children learn and grow in a caring, inclusive, supportive and nurturing environment which encourages them to be confident, responsible young people. This is something we work hard to achieve, and of which we are very proud.

We celebrate success regularly through our assemblies and within our classes. We encourage everyone to have high expectations of themselves, be responsible and to be self-motivated.

Our vision is that we all strive to BE THE BEST WE CAN BE within Coaltown of Wemyss Primary School.

We value and work hard to forge strong links with our local community. Throughout the year we plan events which include all our partners, including our Parent Council. We have a close association with our school Chaplin, Mrs. Jacqueline Thomson and Coaltown of Wemyss Bowling Club to name but a few.

Our children are actively involved in planning their own learning from individual to whole school level. Every child actively contributes to improve our school. We consult regularly across our school community on all aspects of school life.

We use Seesaw as a platform to communicate with our families. Staff and children regularly communicate with each other using Seesaw as a means to share and celebrate achievements and learning both in and outside school. Our children are encouraged to take ownership of sharing their learning with adults at home.

Following consultations with our families, we have reintroduced weekly homework. This consists of a reading task and either a Literacy or Numeracy activity. This activity is related to the learning that has been completed in class that week.
