Reading Schools aims to help schools across Scotland build and sustain a reading. This year we are working towards the Core accreditation. We aim to develop the school environment to promote reading for pleasure, we hope to introduce an outdoor library to give pupils the opportunity to read at break and lunch. We will continue to share and celebrating reading both in class and with our families. Pupils will be given opportunities to share what they are reading with peers and staff, as well as increased opportunities to read for pleasure in class. Our Pupil Council have agreed to lead the project and have been busy creating an action plan for the year to come. We will update families with our Reading Schools journey and the plans we have to ensure that reading is enjoyed and celebrated in our community.
Our parent/carer survey highlighted that it can be challenging to find books that your child may enjoy.
The Bookzilla app was created by Scottish Book Trust which can help children find books that they will enjoy. Free Bookzilla App – Children’s Book Finder – Scottish Book Trust – Scottish Book Trust.
