Coaltown of Balgonie Primary School was opened in August 1889. It is a village school over a split campus. The main building is at the end of School Road which sits in a countryside environment. The main school building is surrounded by fields and a housing development (currently under construction). It is adjacent to the public play park. The main building houses 4 classrooms, toilet block, staff room, breakout space, HT office and administration office. The annexe building is the old Miners’ Welfare Institute at the top of School Road and houses a classroom along with the kitchen and dining/gym/assembly hall. There are some picnic benches and a trim trail on our grassed area. The tarmac areas of the playground have games painted on them including 3 football pitches and a netball court.
