Parent Council

Welcome to the Parent Council Information Page

The Parent Council at Castlehill Primary School is a group of parents and carers whose role is to:

  • Represent the wider parent/carer and community body and help facilitate communication between them and the school.
  • Support and work with the school to help it achieve its core values and provide an excellent and happy environment in which children thrive in their learning and development.
  • Fundraise for the school, to enable the purchase of additional equipment and resources to benefit the pupils and staff. Fundraising is organised through the School Association.

What sort of topics does the Parent Council discuss?

  • Developing and enhancing the core values of the school.
  • Library regeneration
  • Cost of the school day.
  • Fundraising opportunities – this is discussed more in our sister group: The School Association.
  • Transitions – between Nursery/Primary 1 and between Primary 7/High school.
  • Curriculum – consultation on developing curriculum booklets
  • Allocation of certain parts of the school budget.
  • Other matters concerning the school of a general nature.

Who is involved?

We currently have around 40 active members on the Parent Council and we are always keen to welcome new members to join us. The School Council is administered through three committee positions: Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary. The current chair is Emma Purvis.
