Families

Parents are encouraged to become involved in the life of the nursery because we value them as a child’s primary educator and the contributions they can make to their child’s development and learning. In the nursery we aim to involve parents by:-

* Keeping them informed by regular newsletters.

* Involving them in a number of audit processes, questionnaires, etc.

* Inviting them to volunteer in a variety of activities e.g. forest/beach visits, Stay and Play sessions, fund-raising activities etc.

* Inviting them to relevant review meetings, PLJ cuppa chats.

* Providing induction meetings and ‘Early Bird’ sessions for new children.

* Facilitating a transition programme.

* Encouraging parents to join Family Learning groups, where they can learn new skills and make new friends.

We strive to keep you as informed and involved as possible in your child’s nursery experience. We have an open door policy and parents/carers are welcome to come in and share their child’s experience in nursery at any point.

We also host stay and play sessions and open events which give parents opportunities to share in the learning. Our displays and nursery learning wall is a visible record of learning and we encourage children and parents to share this.

PLJ – The Personal Learning Journal

The PLJ follows your child’s achievements as they develop skillls for life and learning. Within the PLJ there will be photographs, observations and evidence of significant learning. This progression in learning is noted and tracked through the PLJ.  The children, and parents, have access to their PLJ folder at any time and folders are sent home termly to share with the wider family.

Progress Meetings

Throughout the year we have opportunities for parents to attend progress meetings. These are held with your child’s keyworker and allows you time to discuss your child’s experiences, development and create next steps for their learning journey.

We believe that the quality of our relationship with the children is greatly influenced by the quality of the partnership we can establish together. If you have any concerns or questions you can request a meeting to discuss your child’s progress at any point.
