We pride ourselves on Carnegie Nursery being a literacy-rich environment. We aim to promote pre-early and early reading and writing skills in all areas of our core provision in nursery. Children are encouraged to mark-make and engage with books in all areas.

Our Nursery Teacher, Mrs Robertson, has regular interactions with groups of children to teach, encourage and promote literacy skills. This could look like fine motor input to develop the tools for writing, spending time in the school library reading and talking about books, or carrying out focussed tasks that encourage the development of language and communication.
