<\/strong>where the building cannot open as there is no running water, the heating is not working or power failure.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Planned<\/strong> &#8211; Where the school building is closed for elections, industrial action or when utility companies are doing planned maintenance work to gas, water or electric services in the area and all services are to be shut off.\u00a0\u00a0Schools are notified in advance of these closures and the Headteacher will notify Parents\/Carers of these closures.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Severe Weather &#8211; <\/strong>Headteachers will make the decision locally to close where severe weather prevents the school from opening.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"panel panel-default\" role=\"presentation\">\n<div class=\"panel-heading\" role=\"presentation\">\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3 class=\"panel-title\"><span style=\"color: #008000\">How will I find out if my child\u2019s school is closed?\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<i class=\"accordion-icon fa fa-minus\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"25046-accordion1\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse in\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"25046-accordion1-25046\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n<div class=\"panel-body\">\n<ul>\n<li>The most efficient way is via the school through their Groupcall text message and email service.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Please make sure that the school has up to date contact details from you.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Headteachers will make the decision as early as possible on the night before or day of the closure and will contact you once this is confirmed.\u00a0\u00a0Messages from Groupcall, will be automatically sent to your mobile phone and\/or email account.<\/li>\n<li>Schools may also use other methods of contacting Parents\/Carers, such as the School App.<\/li>\n<li>Please note that text alerts and email issued via mobile network providers, may be delayed where there is high volume on mobile networks or the internet.\u00a0\u00a0Therefore, you should also\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0make use of the other communication channels referred to in this document.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"panel panel-default\" role=\"presentation\">\n<div class=\"panel-heading\" role=\"presentation\">\n<h3 class=\"panel-title\"><span style=\"color: #008000\">When will I receive further email or text alerts?<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<i class=\"accordion-icon fa fa-minus\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"25046-accordion2\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse in\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"25046-accordion2-25046\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n<div class=\"panel-body\">\n<p>You will only receive further messages when the status of a school changes.\u00a0\u00a0The first text\/email will be sent when the school closes and a further text\/email will be sent only once the school reopens.\u00a0\u00a0If a school remains closed over more than one day, there will be no further messages sent until the school reopens.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"panel panel-default\" role=\"presentation\">\n<div id=\"25046-accordion3\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse in\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"25046-accordion3-25046\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n<div class=\"panel-body\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"row bottom-boxes first\" role=\"region\">\n<section id=\"25049\" class=\"accordion col-xs-12 col-sm-3 col-md-3 js-enabled\">\n<div class=\"accordion-header col-xs-12 col-sm-12 col-md-12\"><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>The Education Service aims to maintain service delivery during severe weather and to minimise disruption to pupils and Parents\/Carers.<\/li>\n<li>Where necessary, headteachers will close their school as early as possible the night before or on the first morning of severe weather, to allow text\/email messages to be issued as quickly as possible.<\/li>\n<li>On very rare occasions, there may be the need to implement a blanket closure that may affect parts or all of Fife.\u00a0\u00a0Updates will be provided through the communication channels below.<\/li>\n<li>Where there is heavy snowfall, for example, resources will be deployed to the worst hit areas and therefore the clearing of playgrounds and car parks will not be a priority until all schools can open.<\/li>\n<li>It may not be possible to have all School Crossing Patrol Officers on duty during the worst of the weather.\u00a0\u00a0You should make arrangements to ensure the safety of your child to and from school.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fife Council School Closure Information Please click here to be redirected to Fife Council\u2019s dedicated web page on school closures or copy and paste the link below into your browser\u2019s search bar. https:\/\/www.fife.gov.uk\/kb\/docs\/articles\/community-life2\/ready-for-severe-weather\/schools-and-education-in-severe-weather School Closures What kind of school closures are there?\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Emergency &#8211;
