{"id":2,"date":"2021-03-26T09:09:36","date_gmt":"2021-03-26T09:09:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fi\/calaiswoodschool\/?page_id=2"},"modified":"2024-02-06T11:39:18","modified_gmt":"2024-02-06T11:39:18","slug":"sample-page","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fi\/calaiswoodschool\/","title":{"rendered":"Home"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong>Welcome to the Calaiswood School Website.<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\r\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-46 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fi\/public\/calaiswoodschool\/uploads\/sites\/12650\/2021\/03\/26101130\/Calaiswood-logo.png\" alt=\"School Logo\" width=\"120\" height=\"120\" \/><\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">Calaiswood School provides specialist education to meet the needs of children and young people, aged 3 to 18,\u00a0who have complex and additional support needs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">The school opened in August 2007 following the closure of Headwell and Robert Henryson Schools.\u00a0 The school is part of Duloch Community Campus which also houses Duloch Primary School, Nursery and a busy community centre.\u00a0 The head teacher has responsibility for both schools and links are developing to\u00a0promote campus working.\u00a0 Children and young people work together when appropriate to share learning and develop social<\/span> <span style=\"color: #3366ff\">links.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">We are privileged to be in a school which is designed around the needs of our pupils.\u00a0 We have 11 classes ranging from nursery to secondary all with the highest quality facilities built in.\u00a0 Other accommodation includes a pool with jacuzzi, a gym hall, homecraft room and art and music rooms with potential for full development of skills for life and skills for learning for all pupils.\u00a0 Therapy offices and a nurses&#8217; base are also incorporated into the build.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">Our close proximity to Duloch Library, Tesco and Aldi enables us to<\/span> <span style=\"color: #3366ff\">access the local community for learning and teaching. We are committed to current initiatives on inclusion and have forged meaningful links with other education establishments, community groups and facilities.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">A holistic approach is adopted at Calaiswood with therapy needs being integrated as well as a strong educational focus.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">All parties\u2019 work collaboratively to implement programmes and support pupils in achieving their individual targets. These are realised through a broad balanced curriculum within the National Framework for Curriculum for Excellence.\u00a0 Multi-sensory and interactive methods ensure the curriculum is dynamic and<\/span> <span style=\"color: #3366ff\">meaningful for each pupil. The curriculum is at a level appropriate to the individual and we take part in ongoing development work to review our curriculum as appropriate.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">Pupils in the senior school access SQA National level 1 or 2 courses as appropriate, where there is a particular focus on developing the skills they will need as they move on from school to adult learning.\u00a0 Pupils who are not accessing SQA nationals have a PLP (Personal Learning Plan) with individualised targets which they work on throughout the school year.\u00a0 These are shared termly with parents.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">The staff : pupil ratio is high to enable full curriculum access and entitlement for all. Classes are staffed by a teacher and pupil support assistants.
