3-5 Nursery ~<\/strong><\/p>\n

Think Equal<\/strong> is a programme we have started using this year in nursery to help children learn about kindness, fairness and respect for others. It supports children to build confidence, empathy and positive relationships, and helps promote emotional wellbeing as they learn and grow together.\u00a0 This is done through stories, talk and simple activities, where children are encouraged to understand their own feelings, think about how others might feel and learn that everyone is important, even if we are different.<\/p>\n

This week during our Think Equal <\/strong>sessions, we have been learning how to listen better, which helps us to listen to each other and value what our friends say. We played several fun listening games to help develop our listening skills.<\/p>\n

Learning Wall<\/strong><\/p>\n

Our learning wall began in March, when the children started to notice signs that spring was arriving. Lara was the first to spot the daffodils growing in the garden, which led to a group discussion about the signs of spring. The children shared their ideas about Spring, including \u201cbirds singing\u201d<\/em> (Liam), bluebells in our garden<\/em> (Jessica), \u201cbaby birds are born\u201d<\/em> (Luca), and \u201cbeasties and spring flowers\u201d<\/em> (Kaine). We have been exploring the theme of Spring<\/strong> through a range of activities, including reading spring\u2011themed stories, painting flowers, and playing spring games on the computer.<\/p>\n

Willow Den<\/strong><\/p>\n

We are delighted to share that after lots of hard work, the Willow Den<\/strong> in our garden is now open, and the children are absolutely loving it! This exciting space is already being used in many ways, supporting imaginative play, cooperation and wellbeing. As we move into the summer term, the Willow Den will be a fantastic outdoor resource, giving the children the chance to explore nature, chat with friends and play creatively, all while providing welcome shade. It is a calm, inviting space that encourages curiosity, creativity and positive social interaction outdoors.<\/p>\n

Early Entrants ~\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Learning Wall \u2013 Mini Beasts <\/strong><\/p>\n

The children in Early Entrants have been learning all about mini beasts<\/em> for our learning wall. This interest began when they discovered a big spider in the cosy shed. Although the spider disappeared later that day, it didn\u2019t stop the children from enthusiastically singing the Incy Wincy Spider<\/strong> song, which they thoroughly enjoyed.<\/p>\n

The following day, the children spotted a wasp, which opened up further discussions about different kinds of mini beasts. They then discovered a bees\u2019 nest outside in the garden. This led to lots of curiosity and investigation, with the children carefully observing and talking about what they could see \u2013 always making sure they kept themselves safe.<\/p>\n
