{"id":619,"date":"2024-10-01T20:41:17","date_gmt":"2024-10-01T19:41:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fi\/buckhavenps\/?page_id=619"},"modified":"2026-06-22T10:02:43","modified_gmt":"2026-06-22T09:02:43","slug":"pep-yellow-room","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fi\/buckhavenps\/asc\/pep-yellow-room\/","title":{"rendered":"PEP ~ Yellow Room"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\" data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">We\u2019ve had a really busy and fun time in the Yellow Room, with lots of lovely learning happening through play, sensory experiences and being active together.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Literacy, Numeracy and Health &amp; Wellbeing<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\">We have been working on our communication and early literacy skills through lots of interactive activities. The children are building confidence in making choices, taking turns and exploring cause and effect \u2014 especially when using technology.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\">In numeracy, our focus has been \u201cbig and small\u201d, with the children exploring size through play and everyday activities. We\u2019ve also been enjoying our counting song \u201c5 Green Bottles\u201d\u00a0\u2013 the children love watching the water pour and seeing the numbers change!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\">Keeping active has been a big focus for us too. The children have had some fantastic opportunities including:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\">Swimming<\/li>\n<li data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\">Trips to the park<\/li>\n<li data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\">Horse riding<\/li>\n<li data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\">Football with Lachlan<\/li>\n<li data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\">Physical literacy sessions in the PE hall with Mollie<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\">It\u2019s been lovely to see everyone joining in, building confidence and enjoying being active in their own way.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Other Curricular Areas<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\">Our topic this term is \u201cThe Beach and the Sea\u201d, which the children have really enjoyed exploring.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\">We\u2019ve had lots of sensory play\u00a0with water, boats and sand, giving everyone the chance to explore, splash, pour and play. The class have also worked together to create a beautiful beach scene\u00a0using different painting and printing techniques.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\">Technology has been a big part of our learning too. The children have been:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\">Using a switch\u00a0to help make popcorn (a big favourite!)<\/li>\n<li data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\">Playing counting games on the Smart TV<\/li>\n<li data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\">Matching colours using the iPad<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\">Through these activities, we\u2019ve seen a lovely increase in the children\u2019s motivation to communicate with adults, with many more attempts to interact, request and share their enjoyment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\">We also had a fantastic time at Sports Day. The children all took part in a range of activities including running races, parachute games, scooter boards, throwing into targets and an obstacle course. It was a brilliant day and everyone did so well.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\">We are so proud of all the children in the Yellow Room and how well they are joining in, trying new
