Literacy:<\/strong>
\nThis term in Literacy, we have continued to build upon our phonics knowledge, supporting the development of both our reading and writing skills. The children have been highly engaged in exploring the use of adjectives to create imaginative characters and vivid settings. Using these ideas, they have produced a range of fantastic descriptive stories full of creativity and adjectives to help our reader imagine our story clearer.<\/p>\n

In addition, we have been learning how to use speech marks correctly within our writing and have practised editing texts to improve punctuation and overall accuracy. The class has shown great progress in developing their confidence using these within their writing.<\/p>\n

Numeracy:<\/strong>
\nIn Numeracy, our focus has been on developing an understanding of fractions. We have explored the concept of fractions as equal parts of a whole and practised sharing quantities fairly. The children have worked with halves, quarters, and thirds, using a variety of engaging approaches such as creating \u201cfraction pizzas\u201d and working with concrete materials to support their understanding. We look forward to continuing to build confidence in this area after the Easter break.<\/p>\n

Health and Wellbeing:<\/strong>
\nIn Health and Wellbeing, the class have been learning about personal hygiene, travel safety, internet safety and friendships. They have taken part in drama lessons (re-enacting scenarios), discussions around how to stay safe both when using technology and when out and about and completing written tasks<\/p>\n

Other Curricular Areas:<\/strong>
\nOur topic this term has been Spring. We have explored the characteristics of the spring season in Scotland, including changes in weather and the natural environment. The children have learned about foods that are produced during this season, as well as the different parts of plants and what they need to grow. As part of this learning, we planted our own pea plants, which are now beginning to grow an exciting opportunity to observe change over time.<\/p>\n

We also investigated different types of weather, including cloud formations and the water cycle, helping us to better understand the world around us.<\/p>\n

This term, we have worked incredibly hard preparing for our Spring Assembly, which will be performed on the final day of term. This has involved learning lines, practising songs, and rehearsing together as a team. The children have shown great dedication and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We preformed our assembly and did a fantastic job.<\/p>\n

In Art, the children have explored a variety of flowers and used line, texture, and shape to create their own beautiful and expressive pieces of artwork.<\/p>\n

In French, we have been learning how to introduce ourselves and ask others how they are. The children enjoyed practising simple conversations with partners and showed great enthusiasm for speaking a new language.<\/p>\n

In RME, P3 have been learning all about Buddhism. They have learnt about The Buddha, the 8 rules of enlightenment and the Buddhist Temple. Over the last couple of weeks, they looked at their own beliefs and the Easter Story. I have used a range of videos, stories and images to teach each area and the class have retold the stories and created posters to share information<\/p>\n

Finally, we are delighted to celebrate a number of wider achievements within Primary 3 this term. Aadam and Dua shared their experiences of Ramadan and Eid with the class, helping us to learn more about these important religious celebrations. Kelly also achieved great success in gymnastics, winning another fantastic trophy for her performances on the bar and beam. Ryver and George also created some fantastic art pieces and shared them with us. Well done everyone!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
