Rights Respecting School<\/span><\/p>\n

BIG NEWS: Blairhall Primary School is a Gold Rights Respecting School!<\/strong><\/p>\n

We are absolutely thrilled to announce to our families and the wider community that we have officially achieved the Gold: Rights Respecting Award. This is the third and highest stage of the UNICEF UK Rights Respecting Schools Award, and it is a massive achievement for our whole school.<\/p>\n

Why is this such a big achievement?<\/p>\n

Reaching Gold means that children\u2019s rights are no longer just something we learn about\u2014they are embedded in every part of our school life, practice, and culture. This award recognises that:<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Our Children are Leaders: Our pupils act as ambassadors for rights, leading progress and standing up for fairness and social justice both in school and in the wider world.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Rights are “Lived”: From our class charters to our weekly assemblies, rights such as the right to play, the right to be safe, and the right to be heard are at the heart of everything we do.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Everyone Belongs: The award highlights our commitment to being an inclusive school where \u00a0“all pupils are celebrated and feel valued and supported to be the best they can be. Relationships based on mutual respect and trust, where learning about rights is clearly affecting relationships in a positive way. ”<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Stronger Voice: By putting rights first, we have strengthened our pupils’ sense of belonging and voice, creating the best possible environment for learning.<\/p>\n

Our assessor commented that “it was evident that children\u2019s rights are embedded across the school and underpin every facet of
\nschool life”.<\/p>\n

This achievement is the perfect reflection of our school vision: \u201cBlairhall Achieving Success Every day\u201d. It shows how we live our BASE values every single day:<\/p>\n

As a school we have been working on our whole school charter. This uses rights based language to support discussions and share our expectations around positive behaviour.<\/p>\n

We have also translated our whole school charter into different languages that are spoken by members of our school community. By translating them, we hope to make sure our charter is accessible to all.<\/p>\n

Our Rights committee will continue to meet regularly to help everyone in our school community learn about the UNCRC and the rights that every child has.<\/p>\n
