Football success update

A number of our pupils and teams have had a very successful season this year: see below.

Under 14 Boys

Our U14s Boys team has successfully qualified for the final play-offs in the Fife competition and will play their semi-final match this week.

Under 18 Boys

The U18 boys have won their league conference with a 100% record and will now play Auchmuty HS in a league semi-final play-off at the end of March.  If successful, the team will play in the league final due to be held in the last week of term.

The U18s team have also qualified for the semi-final of the Fife Cup and will play Kinross HS at Kinross on 19th March.  The final of the cup competition will be held at Bayview Stadium on the evening of Friday, 26th April.  Hopefully, the team can make the final but they will need to negoatiate a tricky semi-final match.

Scotland Schoolsboys

Owen Andrew (S6) started up front for Scotland U18s Schoolboys against Nothern Ireland last week in the Victory Shield.  The boys lost 1-0 but it is a major honour for Owen starting this international game.

Good luck to all our teams as they head towards the end of their sporting seasons.

DAS fundraisers make donation to Cupar Foodbank

Our DAS pupils were delighted to present Monsignor Pat McInally with a cheque for £500 to be donated to Cupar Foodbank.  As part of their Personal Achievement Gold Award, Billy and Joshua, the main organisers of the events, nominated the foodbank to receive support from the Christmas Fayre activities.

Pupils and staff within the faculty made holly wreaths and table settings with the support of colleagues from SRUC Elmwood, with many businesses donating prizes to the raffle.

The DAS team also had the support of staff and pupils from Kilmaron, Fair Trade group, our senior pupils and one of the Nurture Groups.

A big ‘thank you’ to Miss Tidd and Mrs Clark for supporting the pupils as they put the event together.

Fairtrade Fortnight

The Fairtrade/Global Goals group will be marking Fairtrade Fortnight and International Women’s Day this Friday, 8th March.  Please come along to the Conference Room during Interval to:

  • Purchase some of your favourite Divine Fairtrade chocolate,
  • enter our competition to win a fabulous giant Easter egg.
  • and, more importantly, complete one of the “She deserves” postcards urging the UK Government to ensure that living incomes are paid to cocoa farmers; women farmers suffer the most from low wages.

Come along and find out a bit more about how Fairtrade and you can help cocoa farmers fight their way out of poverty and earn a living income.
