Philip Caveney visits Bell Baxter

We’d like to take the opportunity to ‘thank’ Philip Caveney for coming to the school yesterday to talk to our S2 pupils. Philip came to the school as part of Book Week Scotland celebrations with the support of the Scottish Book Trust.

Philip talked about his work and how he became a writer.  His message was that he didn’t wait until he was older before starting to write…his writing life started when he was at school.

Philip asked the pupils if they too sometimes sat and stared at a blank sheet of paper searching for inspiration – he reassured them that he too often suffered this fate.

Well done to David and Keira, two of our S2 Reading Heroes, for introducing Philip and proposing the ‘thanks’ at the event.

The school will hold its annual Winter Concert in the Assembly Hall on Wednesday, 28th November. The event starts at 7:30pm with music acts including the String Group, Wind Band, Pipe and many more. This will be a fantastic evening showcasing the musical talents of our pupils.

£5 – Adult
£12 – Family (2 adults, 2 children)
Under 5’s can attend for free

The Pupil Committee will be selling tickets in the foyer during intervals and lunchtimes from the 26th – 28th November.

Toy Drive appeal

Throughout November, Bell Baxter will be a collection point for this year’s “Toy Drive”.

The appeal was set up with the support of our community to help donate gifts to families in need at Christmas time.  Each year the “Toy Drive” depends on donations from the public, business and schools to provide gifts for local children aged from 0-18 years age so that they have a gift to open on Christmas morning.

All donations must be NEW and unwrapped.  Gifts can include puzzles, books, boardgames, craft gifts, video games, stuffed toys, gift sets, Lego and/or DVDs.  Unfortunately, we cannot accept any handmade items.

If you would like to help this great cause we would ask that all gifts are handed into the school by 30th November.

Thank you.
