Faculties will be providing further information to pupils directly in class throughout the course choice window and pupils should speak to their teachers about the options available to them in S4.

In an increasingly competitive world beyond school pupils should seek to maximise their potential success in the senior phase of S4-S6 by choosing courses they are committed to, enjoy and are currently performing best in.

When making choices pupils should pay particular attention to the recommended levels in their recent S3 parental report and think about their intended future pathway and career aspirations.

Pupils should talk to their Guidance Teacher, class teachers and Skills Development Scotland partners in the school should they need additional advice about potential pathways and future careers.

There will be an additional opportunity for parents to find out about the options available for young people moving into S4 at an information evening on Tuesday 15th January, 2019. Details will be published on the school website and distributed through Groupcall.

Stage 2. Making course choices online

In the first week in January all pupils in S3 in session 2018-2019 will  be issued with a personal login and pin number to access the Online course choice website.  Following discussion with parents all learners will make then make seven course choices. All choices will need to be made during the stage specific Option Choice windows detailed below.

The Course Choice website specifically for pupils moving into S4 in session 2019-2020 can be found by clicking on the link below.

Please note that ‘mock’ Option Choices for S3 pupils entering S4 in session 2019-2020 will initially be made  between Wednesday 16th January, 2019 and 9am on Monday 21st January, 2019.

Following the completion of this ‘mock’ choice exercise the courses available for session 2019-2020 will be confirmed and a further ‘Final’ Option Choice window will open on Friday 2nd February, 2019 and close at 10pm on Thursday 7th February, 2019.

Stage 3. Course counselling

Individual pupil interviews will take place on Monday 11th, February, 2019 and any changes to online course choices will be made by the Guidance Team at this time. Any changes will be confirmed to parents by email.

Stage 4. Timetabling & confirmation

The school timetabling team will be working over the coming months to complete the whole school timetable for session 2019-2020.  It is important to note that whilst the school hopes to provide each pupil with their preferred course choice options we reserve the right to make changes to or withdraw courses if the number opting is too small, or if the necessary resources including staff and/or accommodation is unavailable.

If any changes need to be made to your course choices during the timetabling period these will be communicated directly home from the school timetabling team.

Your individual school timetable will be distributed shortly before you begin your S4 year in June 2019
