If you haven’t done so, we are encouraging parents and carers of our new S1 pupils to read and complete the school’s acceptable use policy for ICT before the start of term: see below for link. Once signed off, pupils will be able to access the school network to support their learning.
The policy sets out the expectations of pupils when they are using IT facilities within the school. Parents, carers and pupils should carefully read the policy and submit the form acknowledging that they understand its contents and agree to our expectations; pupils’ responsibilities will be covered again in class.

Well, we’ve made it to the end of a very busy academic session. We welcomed Ms Penrose as Rector in August; we saw our pupils head up The Polar Academy; we held our inaugural Senior Sportsman’s Dinner; the U18s football team swept all before them; our partnerships with business and the wider community were strengthened through a number of initiatives; we worked closely with our cluster primary schools; our pupils starred on the stage at the Byre Theatre; pupils participated in the Scottish Learners’ Panel, and our pupils achieved success in a number of activities at local, national and international level.
We’ve enjoyed every minute of the session and hope that you’ve enjoyed sharing in the achievements of our pupils and staff. We hope everyone has a great summer and we look forward to welcoming everyone back in August.
You can see all of our videos on the Bell Baxter HS YouTube channel.
Our monthly “Look what happened in..” video for April sees us sharing a number of school and personal sporting achievements – from local cup finals to national regional events. April also saw the Spring Concert, UKMT Maths Challenge and the work being done by one of nurture groups celebrated too.
Check out the film on the Bell Baxter HS YouTube channel.
The Parent Council will next meet in the school’s Conference Room at 7pm on Tuesday, 30th April. The evening will include a presentation from Mr M. Gibbons (Depute Rector) regarding Attainment.
All parent and carers are welcome to join the meeting. Further information about the Parent Council and Parental Engagement can be found on the school website.
Our Captains Team delivered Study Skills Workshops to S4 pupils and their parents last week in preparation for the Summative Assessment and final SQA exam diets.
The workshops covered the essential skills necessary for supporting National courses. The Captains Team looked at study techniques, using Outlook calendars to plan for deadlines and revision, and learning styles.
