Attendance

Good attendance means…
being in school every day, ready

  • to learn and achieve
  • to have new experiences
  • to build relationships
  • to develop new skills

Good school attendance is the foundation of our ambition for our children and young people to reach their full potential and is fundamental to Getting it Right for Every Child and raising attainment for all.

Impact of Poor Attendance
Fife Council recognise the cumulative impact that poor attendance has on a child or young person’s learning; wellbeing and life chances. Poor attendance has been linked to lower levels of attainment;
peer relationships; emotional and behavioural difficulties and poorer employment opportunities.

Low levels of attendance can also be linked to how connected children and young people feel to their school community. Absenteeism can cause children and young people to feel a greater sense of isolation from their peers, teachers and schools which may result in being more socially withdrawn when returning to school (Gottfried, 2015)1

You can keep a check on your own child’s attendance overview by logging into Parents Portal. (If you would like help to access this app, please contact the school office).

If your child has frequent absences from school it would be helpful to have a discussion about what we can do together to increase your child’s attendance. We are keen to understand any challenges that you face as a family to enable your child to attend school. At school we will keep an eye on attendance figures and do our best to encourage regular attendance as much as we can.

If any further absences are necessary please get in touch to provide reasons and talk about what support we can provide.

January 2025 – UPDATE

Reflecting on last term’s attendance figures, I am pleased to share that we are currently sitting above our ‘stretch target’ of 93.58%,

For the period to December 2024, our school’s attendance was recorded as 95.7%

As we start the new term we hope this positive trend will continue as we are aware of the strong evidence which links regular school attendance with positive progress in learning.

March 2025 – UPDATE

Reflecting on last term’s attendance figures, I am pleased to share that we are again sitting above our ‘stretch target’ of 93.58%,

For the period to March 2025, our school’s attendance was recorded as 96.13%

As we start the summer term, we are pleased to share another positive trend to our attendance figures
