New Technology Resources in the Nursery

We carried out an audit of technology resources in the nursery as part of our nursery improvement priority focus -developing the use of digital technologies enhancing play and learning. Through accessing a range of everyday technologies we are supporting the children to become confident in their use and develop an understanding of how they work.

The children used the Smartboard to review the photographs taken on the camera giving them “the opportunity to give and accept constructive comment on their own and others’ work” a part of the Expressive Arts Curriculum.

Reviewing Samuel’s picture Jack commented on the composition of the photo.

” I like him standing tall.”

Samuel advised on what makes a good picture.

“When you smile.”

Gracie enjoyed the process and explained how the camera worked.

” I like taking pictures… Press the button with the letters (OK).”

Ensuring fairness using the new camera and torches the children were able to independently self regulate turn taking with the new timers.

Matthew shared his knowledge and understanding.

“You have to turn over the timer and when it goes all the way down your turn is over and someone else has a turn- that’s fair.”
