Developing the Young Workforce

As part of our current learning wall about the world of work the nursery was fortunate to welcome some adults into the nursery to discuss their job role. Developing the Young Workforce encourages young people to consider the skills they will need to develop for future career opportunities. We learned the importance of developing numeracy and literacy skills for all the adult roles.

So far we have had discussions about working in retail, teaching and driver instruction.

Thank you to Mrs Stone, Mrs Brown and Mrs Bird for their interesting talks and answering the children’s questions. We have learned some sign language to help communicate, we have looked at the Highway Code and role played sending letters and parcels at the post office.

Transient Art Area

Transient art is known as moveable art, it is a collection of materials that children can use to create a picture. The materials that are used are open-ended resources, and there is no permanent end product.

It allows children to create and explore without feeling the pressure of producing an end product. They can experiment and move the parts as their ideas develop. They are also developing their fine motor skills as they manipulate the small loose parts.
