A resource for school staff to support autistic girls<\/span><\/h2>\n

This online resource has been created by Fife Council Educational Psychology service in partnership with the Neuroinclusive Support Team (NST) to provide school staff with information and resources to support autistic females.<\/p>\n

While this resource focuses on supporting autistic girls, many of the strategies and tools included may also be helpful for all learners.<\/p>\n

\"\"In the past, it was assumed that autistic people were predominantly men and boys, and was rarely considered for women and girls. We now recognise that there are many women, girls and non-binary people on the autism spectrum.<\/p>\n

Although we now have a much deeper understanding of the experiences of autistic women and girls, society\u2019s perception of autism is still shaped by outdated stereotypes and misconceptions. While autism research and professional practices are gradually evolving to reflect the lived realities of autistic girls, significant barriers remain in recognising their needs and providing appropriate, affirming support.<\/p>\n

This resource is designed to provide school staff with information and resources on how they can support female learners who may be presenting with autistic behaviours or have a diagnosis of autism.<\/p>\n
