This can elevate anxiety levels and may lead to mental health issues.\u00a0\u00a0Difficulties with identifying and making sense of internal bodily sensations can leave autistic people feeling confused and make the world appear unpredictable. Daily stressors such as stigma and bullying or the difficulties associated with sensory sensitivities can also negatively impact mental health.<\/p>\n<p id=\"_vx5DRYHnLna8tK\" dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Positive interactions with parents\/caregivers<\/strong> as well as school culture and neighbourhood experiences that foster a <strong>sense of belonging, connectedness and safety<\/strong> are associated with enhanced emotional wellbeing during adolescence.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"_m558LPOdQkAcDF\" dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Ways to support positive mental health for autistic girls<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul id=\"_llCV6BE6bg7Eu6\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<li id=\"_CP0BcNyRw3VucK\" dir=\"ltr\">Support the learner to develop a <strong>positive autistic identity<\/strong><\/li>\n<li id=\"_djqNrFrOir8zws\" dir=\"ltr\">Engage young people in extra-curricular activities to <strong>explore their interests and experience success<\/strong><\/li>\n<li id=\"_cBVFjJppql1aId\" dir=\"ltr\">A <strong>trusting adult<\/strong> to turn to when distressed<\/li>\n<li id=\"_wfrIdOM8GuugPY\" dir=\"ltr\">Use <strong>positive classroom management<\/strong> strategies<\/li>\n<li id=\"_jv3ep3vI31Gsgo\" dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Effective relationships<\/strong> and behaviour policies<\/li>\n<li id=\"_ESvFt368tXEZMh\" dir=\"ltr\">Ensure young people <strong>feel safe<\/strong> in school<\/li>\n<li id=\"_WJwN18dxUwppC0\" dir=\"ltr\">Support <strong>positive peer relationships<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 id=\"_qD39Nrqpk9aafS\" dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Further support\/resources<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Universal<\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Our Minds Matter is the overarching framework for supporting Emotional Wellbeing for all children and young people in Fife. These include: School Based Resilience Assessment Tool; Anxiety is Normal: Learn how to control it, Resource Pack; Coaching Conversations Pack.<\/li>\n<li>Your link EP can support through \u2018No Names\u2019 consultation about a range of wellbeing needs.
