We follow the Curriculum for Excellence, a national framework for providing learning experiences and opportunities to prepare children and young people for learning, life and work in a changing world. Children learn in a variety of ways in eight curricular areas designed to reflect the circumstances of our school and the needs of our children.
All schools follow the same principles in designing the curriculum, aimed at ensuring that children have the experiences and opportunities to become:
Successful learners
Confident individuals
Effective Contributors
Responsible Citizens
Literacy, Numeracy and Health & Wellbeing are the core subjects and taught across the curriculum, allowing children to practise and transfer these skills. Children’s wider achievements are recognised and celebrated. We value wider learning beyond the school and know these contribute to overall success and self-worth.
Our children are consulted on aspects learning, teaching, experiences and events. These views are sued as part of our improvement journey and contribute to the yearly plan. There are opportunities for parents to contribute and be consulted on how our curriculum develops, through surveys, conversations, parents groups and the Parent Council.
