February 2024
P7 returned from their Christmas break, refreshed and ready to go!
This term we have been focusing both our reading and writing skills on Figurative Language. There have been some fantastic stories written that include metaphors, similes and hyperbole!
In Numeracy we are now progressing onto identifying common multiple and factors. We shall follow this up with fractions.
Having consolidated our understanding of where Scotland is on the world map, we have focused on the life of Robert Burns.
The children developed a class performance of his poem ‘Scots Wha Hae’ and showed their passion and understanding of the text at our open ‘Scotland Afternoon’. It was also an opportunity to show off their dancing skills for the dance ‘Strip the Willow’.
This term our topic is ‘The Circulatory System’, and already P7 are producing mini graphic novels to show their understanding of the role of blood for Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide exchange.
December 2023 Update
Hi Everyone!
We have been learning about World War 2.
We have looked at the causes that led up to the beginning of the war, what life was like for ordinary people during the war, and how the war ended.
We also looked at how propaganda was used during the war and how it has influenced advertising today.
The class have produced some excellent artwork to show their understanding of events, as well as developing their skills with different media.
We particularly looked at perspective, blending and detail in our artwork.
In November we were joined by Miss Stevenson up until the last week before the end of term.
We used ‘The Christmasaurus’ by Toma Fletcher as a stimulus for developing our dictionary and character analysis skills.
For Literacy , we focused on report writing, making good use of the opportunities presented by our WWII topic.
In Numeracy, we have been working on Place Value to 10 million. We are beginning to look at the Mixed Operations (Adding, Subtracting, Division and Multiplication) and strategies to help with word problems.
