With everything going on in the world right now many of us look to Netflix as a way to relax, provide comfort and to put our mind at ease. I have provided a list of 5 great recently released series and films as well as some new projects coming soon. There is something for everyone, from dramas to comedies to mysteries and more. Away (Season 1) – 4th Of September
Away is a new sci-fi drama series which had its first season put on Netflix this September. It is rated a 12 and it is about an American Astronaut who reluctantly leaves her family behind in order to go into space on a dangerous mission with her team. The series was created by Andrew Hinderaker and it stars Vivian Wu, Ato Essandoh, Ray Panthaki and more. If you like sci-fi this could be a perfect show to watch in your free time. With its exciting storyline and interesting characters you’ll find yourself easily invested in this show.
The Devil All The Time – 16th Of September
The Devil All The Time is a new crime drama coming to Netflix on the 16th of this month. The 18 rated production is set between the end of World War Two and the 1960s. It focuses on the life of a young man who is doing his best to look after his loved ones in a place which has become full of unusual and sinister characters. The film will star Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson and Hayley Bennett and is more aimed at an adult audience and it could be a great way to relax on a Friday night.
Enola Holmes – 23rd Of September
Enola Holmes is a new mystery film coming to Netflix which is rated a PG. It is based on the series of Enola Holmes books by Nancy Springer. The film will follow the journey of Enola who is the younger sister of famous detective; Sherlock Holmes and her mission to find her mother and prove to her brother she can be a good detective too. It is directed by Harry Bradbeer and it was written by Jack Thorne. It will star Millie Bobby Brown as the main character, Enola. It will also star Henry Cavill and Sam Claflin who play Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes. In my opinion, this film would be the perfect film for Sherlock Holmes fans in particular and it will be fun for the whole family!
Rebecca – 21st Of October
Rebecca is a new mystery/romance film being released onto Netflix. It is rated a PG. It is about a woman who after just getting married, visits her husband’s family estate in England. Whilst she is there she discovers that Rebecca who was her husband’s first wife before she passed away is haunting the house she used to live in with her husband. The film is directed by Ben Wheatley and it will star Lily James, Armie Hammer, Kelley Hawes and more. This film, much like Enola Holmes would be appropriate for the whole family due to its rating.
The Duchess(season 1) – 11th Of September
The duchess is a new comedy drama series coming to Netflix. It is rated a 15. It follows the journey of a single mother called Katherine who is trying to manage her work, her daughter, her relationship and the idea of having another baby with her ex. The series will star Max Fincham, Steen Raskopoulos, Nathan Clarke and more. This series sounds like it is a very light hearted show which would help you wind down after a long day and let you have a good laugh.
