P6M Mini Basketball Tournament

Today was the last session of basketball for P6M and we held a mini house tournament. We tried to use all the throwing, catching and dodging skills we have been practising during our lessons.

The competition was fierce and the pace fast. Everyone played hard and there were displays of excellent passing, catching, intercepting and dodging. Well done to all scorers but especially Jack, Sandra, Jamie and Calum who scored some great baskets.

The scores were as follows:-

Fleming v Baird  2:2,Livingstone v Watt 0:0, Baird v Watt 4:6, Livingstone v Fleming 0:6,  Livingstone v Baird 2:6, Fleming v Watt 4:2

Have a Go At Fencing

Our class were lucky enough to have a visit from some fencing experts.  They had both represented Scotland at their sport and Mhairi will be representing Scotland in the forthcoming London Olympic Games next year.  They came to give us a go and invite us to join their club.  We learnt about the three different weapons  used.  The first is the foil which was used for resolving matters of honour. Beginners use a plastic foil to start with.  After practising they progress to the epee. The epee was originally used for duelling – the fight to first blood.  This is the weapon that is used in the sport now.  The third weapon is the sabre and this was used by the military.
