For Outdoor P.E. today we got our heart rate up by exercising in the snow! We also worked as a team to build a snow creation and had lots of fun in the process.
Check out our creations.

As part of our transition to High School, P7 are involved in a 6 week programme where we attend St Modan’s weekly and take part in lessons covering 2 curricular areas, Art and Music. This follows on from a 6 week block pupils experienced in P6, where they took part in 3 PE sessions and 3 sessions of Modern Languages.

Check out our YouTube movie to see what we got up to in our Week 2 transition lesson.
Week 3
P7B
We learned some tunes on the xylophone this week. It was very challenging at first but through practise and perseverance we mastered the tune!
Week 4
P7B
This week we started our Art and Design transition lessons. We began by designing an insect themed mask. We had to plan a draft and we stained our paper in preparation for next week.
Week 5
P7B
This week we continued to work on our Insect Masks.
Week 4
P7B
We completed our masks! We brought them back to class and created an eye-catching display.
Mixtures
P7’s carried out a variety of experiments to explore mixtures, evaporation and dissolving. Our favourites include, Chromatography, Sieving, Filtration, Mystery Powder Investigation, not to mention creating our very own Lava Lamp!
Light
P7 explored reflections from different surfaces. We used torches to experiment with the pathways of light created through reflecting off a variety of objects and surfaces.
Next we explored visible light in the seven spectrums of colour. For this we created rainbows using water which refracted the light and created rainbows around our room.
Finally we explored shadows and learned about the effects of shadows. We worked in small groups to create a shadow puppet theatre and performed a show for the rest of our class.
We teamed up with our PTA to host a stall at the Denny Christmas Extravaganza at Denny High. In preparation for this event we formed our own companies and worked through a Junior Apprentice programme looking at resources, pricing, production, marketing etc. We were delighted with the outcome of our products and many pupils volunteered to sell on the day. Overall the project was a success teaching us a lot about business and enterprise, not to mention the healthy profit we made as a reward for our efforts.
Watch this space for details of how we will spend our earnings!
Check out our crazy hair!!!
P7 took part in our whole school Crazy Hair Day, raising money for various charities. The senior department decided to raise money for Strathcarron Hospice and also for Little Princess Trust who make wigs for children with Alopecia. We were inspired by 2 of our pupils who, over the past year have donated their hair to this charity to be made into wigs for children suffering with Alopecia.
We listened to St Paul’s letter to the Corinthians and thought about what love is. We the expressed our ideas about love in our own way. Some of us created images, others a poem or a prayer.
As part of our 35 texts in Active Reading we have been using scripts. We worked hard exploring texts and following the directions and speech. We also had fun acting out the Nativity based scripts for our peers.
Some pupils decided to be creative and add music and song to their scripts…
Early in term 1 we visited P2 and had a chance to find out all about the butterflies P2 had looked after from eggs.
Some of us were lucky enough to witness their release. Take a look at the moment captured on video.
Choir
Christmas in Primary 7 was an extremely busy time! Our school choir practised regularly to be ready for all their performances. We are very proud of our P7’s and P6’s and enjoyed listening to their beautiful singing!
Christmas Jumper Day
We took part in Christmas Jumper Day with some pupils designing their own!
P7 Christmas Party
Christmas Party was a huge success! Dancing, party food and games certainly got us all in the Christmas spirit!
