We are really enjoying our topic. Our bean plant is making excellent progress and we are recording this in our bean diaries – check out our photos below! We are also growing our own cress and investigated the best conditions for plants to grow in. Today we visited our new wildlife garden where we used garden equipment to make sure the soil had lots of air in it and was nice and fresh. Then we sowed our wild flower seeds. We are hoping our flowers will start to grow soon and encourage new wildlife including butterflies and honey bees.

Plants and Growing
This week we have been exploring what plants need to grow. We all agreed that, a bit like humans, plants need water to grow. They also need food (which they can get from the soil) and sunlight. We planted some ‘magic beans’ this week using all of the above, and will be keeping a diary to see how they are progressing over the next few weeks! We also sponge-painted some of our own leaves.
Health Fortnight
After a very busy couple of weeks, we are now well and truly into Term 4! We started the term off with our Health Fortnight. During this time we learned all about how to keep ourselves safe and healthy. This included road safety and types of crossings, dental hygiene and the importance of a healthy, balanced diet. We got to take part in taster sessions including taekwondo, rugby and dance. Some of us had never tried these sports before so it was a brilliant opportunity to give them a go. We also had iBike day which was very popular, we got to try out a bike obstacle course. Not forgetting our ‘Run to Rio’ challenge, where each class has been out running a mile each day. We are hoping our total adds up to 6000 miles, which is the distance from Falkirk to Rio in Brazil! Have a look at some of our photos. 🙂
Sports Relief 2016!
We had lots of fun today taking part in Sports Relief! We went for a ‘power walk’ around the school and local area before lunchtime. After lunch we took part in a whole-school dance to the official Sports Relief song out on the pitch, some parents even came along to watch too! Then we got to take part in lots of exercise stations in the gym hall. Thank you for all your donations, helping us raise money for a great cause!

Spring is nearly here! (Hooray!)
As part of our PLAY book tasks this week, we made some fantastic Spring creations now that the change of season is nearly upon us! Miss Taylor was so impressed at the effort the boys and girls had put into their tasks; there were some fantastically creative ways of showing some of the changes that happen at Spring time. Have a look at some of our work!
Year of the Monkey!
Yesterday, P3/2 celebrated Chinese New Year and the Year of the Monkey! We learned about the customs and traditions Chinese people have at New Year and why they are important. We learned that Chinese people believe red is a very lucky colour, and that sometimes children are given money in a special red envelope to celebrate new year. We looked back to see which year we were born in – most of us were born in the Year of the Rat and the Year of the Ox! We also found out that Beijing is the capital city, and that they have special parades with a Chinese dragon. Have a look at some we made ourselves! Gung Hay Fat Choy!
