Highland House Show and Tell

This afternoon, boys and girls from our Highland house brought in some fascinating objects for their Show and Tell! We had talks about our pet dogs, Star Wars characters, Chinese money, fairy doors and photographs that are special to us. All the boys and girls had clearly put in a lot of effort to prepare their talk, and the rest of the class were a great audience and asked some good questions. Well done Highland!

P2 Adding and Subtracting

P2 have been very busy today learning to add and subtract numbers to 12. We investigated different ways of making 12 using cubes. We had to be very careful to remember that adding will make the number bigger, and subtracting will make the number smaller. We did a great job, take a look at our photos!

Burns’ Week!

P3/2 have been very busy this week creating their very own kilts as part of our Burns’ Week celebrations! We looked at some examples first before creating our own tartan design using coloured paper. We then added a belt and sporran. The finished designs look fantastic! The children were keen to take them home as part of their Home File this week to show friends and family. Here are some pictures of us hard at work!

Scots Poetry Competition

Over the last 2 weeks, the boys and girls have been busy practising their Scots poetry for our whole-school competition. Primary 2 have been learning ‘The Crocodile’ by J.K. Annand and Primary 3 have been learning ‘The Sair Finger’ by Walter Wingate. I was so impressed at the effort the children had put into learning their poetry!  All were able to read their poem fluently with super expression, some even had actions!  It was so difficult to choose a winner as they were all excellent! Our final three P2s were Gavin, Connor and Fiona. Our final three P3s were Katie, Elysse and Ben.
Big congratulations to our final winners – Gavin in P2 and Katie in P3! Everyone should be really proud of themselves – you all did brilliantly. Thank you to parents too for your cooperation in helping your child to learn their poem 🙂
