Connected Falkirk Vision

 

 

Connected Falkirk will give our children and young people the confidence, skills and knowledge needed to thrive in an ever-changing, fast-paced digital world.


Connected Falkirk will: 

  • provide a digital device for all Primary 6 to Secondary 6 pupils. 
  • provide a number of devices to Primary 1 to Primary 5 classes. 
  • provide a digital device to all teacherssupported by an accredited Professional Learning Programme. 
  • ensure fast, reliable internet connectivity in all of our schools.  
  • provide families with an opportunity to be digitally connected. 

By increasing access to devices with a suite of powerful digital tools we will bring learning benefits to everyone. This transformational project will support learning anywhere, anytime and with anyone. We want to enrich learning and teaching; encourage creativityand unlock the potential of every pupil and teacher. 

 

What does Connected Falkirk mean for pupils? 

  • For P6-S6 pupils, you’ll get a digital device (replaced every 4 years) which is your device for learning. You’ll be able to take it home and use it anytime or anywhere to support your work in or out of school. 
  • For P1-P5 pupils, your class will have access to devices to support your digital learning in school. 
  • Your device will provide you with new opportunities for collaborative learning with peers, family and educators in a secure online learning environment. 
  • You’ll get inspiring and personalised learning experiences and new ways to show what you’ve learned. 
  • You’ll get access to a palette of digital tools to uncover and exhibit your creativity. 
  • You’ll develop real-world skills and be confident in using them and sharing them.  
  • You’ll gain digital skills essential for employment now and in future as, globally, jobs continue their digital evolution.  
  • You’ll have access to tools that help overcome any barriers you have to learning. 

 

What does Connected Falkirk mean for families? 

  • Connected Falkirk will offer you a ‘window into learning and allow you to feel informed about pupils’ experiences and progress. 
  • Increasing access to the use of virtual learning environments enhances opportunities to learn together and for your child to become a leader in teaching new digital skills to their family.  

 

What does Connected Falkirk mean for educators? 

  • You’ll have access to a package of training and support to enable “a critical understanding of digital technologies and how these can be used to support learning.” GTC Scotland. 
  • The tools and skills delivered though Connected Falkirk will provide you with flexibility in delivering the curriculum, assessment and feedback. 
  • You’ll further develop your skillset to enhance practice and support innovative pedagogy with technology. 
  • You’ll build your confidence in utilising digital technology to support those children with an Additional Support Need or those with English as an additional language. 
  • You’ll receive accreditation through learning programmes for the major technology providers- Apple, Google and Microsoft, with flexible pathways to further professional learning. 
  • You’ll have new opportunities to access and share resources with colleagues.
