Practise your throwing skills.

Erin and Liam had 3 balls each to throw into the bucket.  After many attempts they got 3 in.😂

All you need is a pot or pots of different sizes and rolled up pairs of socks.

Place them at different distances. Decide where to throw from.

See how many you can get into a pot in 1 minute.

Give each pot a score with the smallest post having the highest score.

See who can get the highest score with 5 throws.

The Daily Rigour – Numeracy for Learning

The aims of our newspaper are;

1. To enable young people to develop their numeracy skills and to apply them in new and unfamiliar contexts

2. To aid the development of literacy skills

3. To encourage young people to take an interest in the news

4. To provide a starting point for all teachers to promote the importance of numeracy within the context of their own subject.

Venus was not only the Roman goddess of love, but also of victory. History

The name April comes from the Latin name Aprilis, but experts aren’t completely sure what the origin is beyond that. Some have speculated that the name comes from the Latin word aperire, which means “to open,” presumably because it is during April that most of those beautiful spring flowers open up.

In ancient Roman times, the month of April was closely associated with the Roman goddess Venus, who symbolized love, prosperity, and fertility. It’s interesting to note that the corresponding goddess in Greek myth is Aphrodite, and some historians have thought that the month was actually named after her.

I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud” (also commonly known as “Daffodils“) is a poem by William Wordsworth. It is Wordsworth’s best-known work.

The poem was inspired by an event on 15 April 1802 in which Wordsworth and his sister came across a “long belt” of daffodils.

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o’er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Weekly Reflection Time

Weekly Reflection time

When we want to feel good, even at difficult times, we try hard to think about things in a positive way. Thinking of all the bad things just makes us feel worse than we already do and that isn’t healthy.

There are lots of ways to reflect… you can discuss the questions and talk to someone about it, you can write down your own thoughts in a jotter, or you can answer Reflective Questions that give your thoughts a focus.  This is what I am doing. If you would like to answer some reflective questions, together or by yourself, you can use the link below to take you to a place to do this.

This is my reflection after the first week of missing school. Friday 26th March 2020

I’m going to start my reflection with one thing that I am THANKFUL for this week –                                                                                                                                                                                            this week I am most thankful that even though we aren’t able to go to school, we are still able to communicate with each other.

 

  • Next I’m going to think about how I have COMMUNICATED with others this week –                                                                                                                                                                                        this week I have created this Blog, to communicate with children and families about their learning. I have taken part in P7s challenges and posted onto their teams page and I have followed twitter and seen what some of the children have been doing at home.
  • Something that I really ENJOYED or LEARNED this week                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            this week I really enjoyed learning how to make a blog to share learning activities with the Carmuirs Families.

 

  • Now I’m going to think about something that has WORRIED me this week                                                                                                                                                                                                            this week I’ve been worried about not being able to see my children, my grandchildren and my friends for a long time.

 

  • So what will I do to help myself to FEEL BETTER                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          this week I will talk to my friend on the telephone, I will facetime my grandchildren every day for 10 minutes and when I feel sad I will say out loud ‘This is NOT forever, we only need to live differently for a short time and then we can all be together again’.
  • My last thing to think about is something that I found DIFFICULT this week                                                                                                                                                                                                          this week I didn’t do enough exercise. I found it difficult to want to jump and move about.

  • So what will I do DIFFERENT next week                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          next week I will go for a  20 minute walk every day.

Time to reflect

So we have reached the final day of our first week, learning at home.

It has been very different to what a school week would normally be like. My routine has changed and this still feels strange. I’m going to make sense of this by doing a ‘reflection’ of my week.
