More information about the Programme\u00a0is available from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scottishbooktrust.com\/early-years-professionals\">Scottish Book Trust<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Local delivery of Bookbug\u00a0is managed by Library Support for Schools in partnership with health professionals, local libraries and nurseries.\u00a0\u00a0Bookbug provides an excellent opportunity to deliver the message of the importance of sharing books and developing a love of reading in young children.<\/p>\n<p>Bookbug is clearly linked to the Scottish Government\u2019s Literacy Action Plan:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Strengthening links with Health Centres;<\/li>\n<li>Developing a strong reading culture from the earliest age;<\/li>\n<li>Creating partnerships to support literacy improvement with family learning, early years\u2019 establishments, schools and local libraries.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Bookbug Toddler<\/p>\n<p>This pack is issued by health visitors at the MMR vaccinations or 18 month health check. Parents and carers can also collect a pack from their local public library.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Bookbug&#8217;s Library Challenge<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Bookbug&#8217;s Library Challenge is a library joining incentive for children aged birth to four years. It is available in most public libraries and on the mobile library.
