Modern Languages with Mylo

Mylo http://www.hellomylo.com is a free online tool incorporating aspects of games-based learning to support learning a new language.

There are four languages currently available (French, German, Spanish and Chinese).

Choose a language and the learner then has a choice of games, vocabulary tools and challenges – each provides visual, textual as well as audio feedback, and the nugget-sized tasks provide scores on achievement (as well as badges to display on a profile).

All of the resources can be used without any need to register, however if a teacher registers a school they can then set the tasks for their pupils (in groups or as a class) and get feedback on the progress of their pupils to better support them. Teachers can also choose to create group activities, and publish collaborative work (such collaborative work being seen only by the group members until the teacher chooses to publish it after reviewing it with the learners). The site provides advice on staying safe using the tool and has a number of measures make it suitable for school use.

Many teachers will find Mylo http://www.hellomylo.com/ will complement whatever resources they are already using in the classroom to support their pupils learn a language.
