Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games on Wii. Could this be used in conjunction with a project looking ahead to Beijing? Plenty of PE, Literacy, Env. Studies stuff in there?
Any ideas?

Hello Mr Olyott!
My boss gave me this wii game for Christmas (bless her 🙂 ) because I’d mentioned that it would be great as a tie in to the Olympics.
Great minds think alike wouldn’t you say? I’ve got a few ideas that i thought could be fun…….
Do you think we could “team up” and participate in our own wii Olympics? My students have told me that we probably wouldn’t be able to play against each other in real time (although they have volunteered to sleep over at school!) but maybe we could play the activity and post our top 3 results on a wiki and then work out the winners of the gold, silver and bronze medals????
I had an idea that the kids might like to team up into small groups of four or so and play for / represent different countries. This could allow for research on different countries (flags, position in the world etc). Some kids liked the idea whilst others just wanted to represent Australia 🙂
Anyway, we are up for an Olympic challenge (of the wii variety) around August, get in contact if you think it would be fun 🙂
KimP
Thanks Mrs P.
You really are a star! The original AllStar!
The games are Aug. 08th to24th
Our term starts on the 18th… not ideal, but I guess we get to start off with a specific focus!
Your ideas sound great. Your idea of representing and researching different teams sounds great, Australia always seem to have a decent team, so that’ll be grand!
I’d forgotton that you would be starting a new school year at this time. But our wii Olympics could take place after the real ones – no problems 🙂
We will be having our school athletics carnivals and a mini-olympics sometime later, so we will be in “sporting” mode from this time on!
Keep your thinking cap on andI’m sure we can come up with some great activities – a lot of the sharing could be through a wiki. I’ve used wikispaces a (little) bit, but if you have another preference, we could go that way.
What do you think?
