so james blunt. he’s number one. single and album. but isn’t it rubbish?? if you actually examine the song, he looks at a girl who is hot – who happens to be with her guy – doesn’t talk to her, doesn’t know her name, doesn’t speak to her; and then says he has a plan – but doesn’t know what to do… so she’s beautiful … yes that’s lovely but then so are many girls… get on with it…
why is he number one? there are better singer songwriter types out there – david kitt, tom baxter, even james yorkston to name but a few – but because radio 1 don’t push them, they don’t get into the charts…
have listened to the album, nothing special, but easy to listen to, couple of catchy bits… how do these things happen? where was he before radio 1 – did he do the ground work? maybe he did, maybe he is good, maybe i just don’t like the way it works.
You’re right!nuff said
but that wisemen song is catchy – in an annoying get into your head and stay there for a while sort of way.
ah, but there u are wrong! he wrote the song after he saw his ex-lover on the underground with her new man!so that changes everything- they had the time-stopping eye-catching and he knew that was the last moment of meaningful exchange with the woman he loved.it’s beautiful.(altho i’m 4 months late i’d just like to set the record straight 🙂
