EMA Payment

The next fortnightly payment is due on Friday 28th February 2014.  This includes payment for weeks ending 14th & 21st February 2014.  If you have any queries relating to payments/non payments please contact your school/activity agreement adviser in the first instance.

Weekly Payment Due

The next payment run is complete and should reach accounts on Friday 17th January.  For timetabling reasons, this payment is for one week only, week ended 10th January.  This is also the first payment for which those 16 between 1st Oct ‘13 and 28th Feb ‘14 are eligible.

Application First Reminder

A first reminder that applications from young people aged 16 or over on or before 30th September ‘13 must be received here no later than than 30th September ‘13 in order to be considered for payment backdated to the start of term.  Any received after this date can be considered for payment only from the week of first receipt.  Please be aware of this deadline if you still await supporting evidence and have not yet submitted your form.  We will accept applications, even if incomplete, to be registered for a first check and returned thereafter for the outstanding information.

This submission deadline does not apply to young people who will be 16 between 1st October ‘13 & 28th Feb ‘14 and who are therefore not age-eligible to be considered for payment until January ‘14

A quick reminder as exam season approaches that EMA will continue to be paid over your study leave, providing you adhere to your school’s official study leave dates and of course, attend your exams.

EMA 12-13

Scottish Government have just announced that EMA has been protected for the 2012-13 academic year.  Income thresholds will remain unchanged at £20351 for families with one dependent child or £22403 for families with 2 or more dependent children (based on total taxable household income for year ended 5th April 2012).

We will update online information and distribute new application forms in time for the new session opening (normally in June).  If you intend to apply/reapply please have your parent/carers keep safe their P60’s/Tax Credit Award Notices/Taxable Benefit information etc, all of which usually start to be received from April ‘12.

EMA for this current 11-12 session closes to new applications on 31st March.  If you are 16 or over by 29th February ‘12 and intend to apply please do so as soon as possible.

11-12 First Application Deadline!

Applications from young people who are 16 or over on or before 30th September 2011 must be received here for at least a first check no later than 30th September in order to be considered for payment backdated to the start of term. 

Applications received here after that date can only be considered for payment from the week in which we first receive the application.

Falkirk EMA Blog is 1 year old!

Our blog has now been running for a year, providing easy-to-access information and updates from Finance Team at Falkirk Council Education Services.  Previous posts included payment dates, application deadlines and holiday reminders as well as SQA advice and those all-important snow closures!

We aim to provide clear, concise and useful information/ guidance with this blog, our Glow Group and the main EMA page of the FC website to further support the help already available from schools, your EMA handbook and EMA Team by phone.  If there’s anything else you’d like to see which could improve our service, please let us know.
