Jenni Lim, NHS Forth Valley “I will be honest that initially the EYC PDSA model was something I did not grasp easily. I now find that the ethos of the EYC has given me freedom in my role to test changes on a small scale. When something occurs at work which is a recurring frustration I now design a test of change to explore the possibility of creative shift in things which could change for the better. I deliver Scottish Mental Health First Aid training and believe it should be more accessible. In 8 years of delivering SMHFA, various groups have been keen to access out of hours training delivery. I have fed this into strategic groups but so far this has failed to be a catalyst for change. Recently I was approached by a group of Child-minders wishing to access SMHFA training. On this occasion I decided to deliver the course in evenings as a test of change and evaluation of the impact of making this training available to this group can provide evidence of the level of need for this service. I hope this test of change, which reduced my frustration and allowed 14 very motivated Child-minders to access training they wished to attend might begin a process of creative shift to solutions to the challenges around this agenda.”
