How mobile devices can be used to make a difference to learning and teaching, the practical implications of this in a school, and how to overcome barriers to successful integration, are issues around which schools embarking on the journey exploring using mobile devices consider.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>This post describes just a few resources which may be useful to help schools at the beginning of the journey towards considering using mobile devices to support learning and teaching.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>AUP<\/h3>\n<p>When schools have wireless,\u00a0 which can be accessed by pupils on their own device, and pupils are signed up to an Acceptable Use Policy which sets out responsibilities, they can then consider how best to to incorporate personally-owned mobile devices in learning and teaching.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fa\/mobiledevices\/documents\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2041\" title=\"folder\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fa\/public\/CurriculumSupport\/uploads\/sites\/1906\/2013\/09\/folder.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"87\" height=\"61\" \/>Falkirk Council Education Services provides educational establishments with\u00a0an Acceptable Use Policy<\/a> which takes account of mobile devices and social media. This is available here: <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fa\/mobiledevices\/documents\/\">https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fa\/mobiledevices\/documents\/<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Device Neutral Assignments<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fa\/mobiledevices\/device-neutral-assignment\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2042\" title=\"Device_Neutral_Assignment\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fa\/public\/CurriculumSupport\/uploads\/sites\/1906\/2013\/09\/Device_Neutral_Assignment.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"174\" height=\"51\" \/>Device Neutral Assigments<\/a> are tasks which let pupils choose tool according to device available.\u00a0With multiple types of devices in a classroom (where pupils bring their own device), rather than the tool as the focus for learning, instead the tool should be chosen to suit the intended learning \u2013 and may be chosen by teacher or pupil to best suit task to support learning or demonstrate understanding of the learning &#8211; the learning activity does not presume a specific tool will be used. The link below provides\u00a0further description of device-neutral assignments and provides links to tools for any\u00a0learning activity (such as creating a video, note-taking, creating a video, creating audio, creating an assessment, etc) with suggested example apps\/software\/online tool specific to each device\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fa\/mobiledevices\/device-neutral-assignment\/\">https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fa\/mobiledevices\/device-neutral-assignment\/<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3>QR Codes<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/goo.gl\/1nnb2\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2039\" title=\"QR_codes\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fa\/public\/CurriculumSupport\/uploads\/sites\/1906\/2013\/09\/QR_codes.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"75\" height=\"59\" \/>Quick Response codes<\/a> are square barcodes which, with a mobile device app, turn the mobile device camera into a barcode reader, to then provide a very quick way to access weblinks, video, images or text. <a href=\"http:\/\/goo.gl\/1nnb2\">http:\/\/goo.gl\/1nnb2<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Socrative<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/goo.gl\/w7t16\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2037\" title=\"Socrative_mobile\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fa\/public\/CurriculumSupport\/uploads\/sites\/1906\/2013\/09\/Socrative_mobile1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"76\" height=\"79\" \/>Socrative<\/a> is a free classroom response system works on any Internet-connected device. This lets\u00a0teachers set up questions for responses by pupils on any device. Pupils go to <a href=\"http:\/\/m.socrative.com\">http:\/\/m.socrative.com<\/a> &amp; enter the teacher&#8217;s classroom number. <a href=\"http:\/\/goo.gl\/w7t16\">http:\/\/goo.gl\/w7t16<\/a>.\u00a0Socrative has a host of resources freely shared by other teachers worldwide.<\/p>\n<h3>Padlet<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/goo.gl\/dSC1eQ\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2035\" title=\"Padlet\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fa\/public\/CurriculumSupport\/uploads\/sites\/1906\/2013\/09\/Sean_Banville_Padlet.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"117\" height=\"72\" \/>Padlet<\/a> provides a classroom-friendly feedback discussion area online , private to the classroom,\u00a0which can provide a useful tool in formative assessment in providing an online feedback tool which works on any\u00a0Internet-connected device.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/goo.gl\/dSC1eQ\">http:\/\/goo.gl\/dSC1eQ<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Managing Devices in the Classroom<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/goo.gl\/E7ms6d\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2032\" title=\"traffic_light_green\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fa\/public\/CurriculumSupport\/uploads\/sites\/1906\/2013\/09\/traffic_light_green.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"51\" height=\"91\" \/>The Traffic Light Approach<\/a> is one way teachers have found useful to support classroom management of mobile devices.
