{"id":1006,"date":"2013-04-25T17:15:38","date_gmt":"2013-04-25T17:15:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fa\/CurriculumSupport\/?p=1006"},"modified":"2013-04-25T17:15:39","modified_gmt":"2013-04-25T17:15:39","slug":"working-collaboratively-to-spot-talent","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fa\/CurriculumSupport\/2013\/04\/25\/working-collaboratively-to-spot-talent\/","title":{"rendered":"Working collaboratively to spot talent!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fa\/public\/CurriculumSupport\/uploads\/sites\/1906\/2013\/04\/talent-management.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1033\" title=\"talent management\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fa\/public\/CurriculumSupport\/uploads\/sites\/1906\/2013\/04\/talent-management.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"515\" height=\"303\" \/><\/a>Anne Pearson, Curriculum Support Manager, led a staff development session with Early Years and Primary leaders looking at\u00a0 how talent is managed in Falkirk Education Services.\u00a0 This work relates to how we are managing change, which\u00a0in turn is \u00a0influenced by context and culture.<\/p>\n<p>Context and\u00a0 culture is influenced by many things and the groups made use of the following key influencers:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Learning to Achieve (Falkirk Council, Education Services, 2009) Section 4,<\/li>\n<li>the revised General Teaching Council for Scotland standards that come in to play in August 2013\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0Falkirk&#8217;s\u00a0goal is to ensure that teaching and learning will be delivered by highly skilled practitioners with increased levels of professional autonomy and accountability.\u00a0Class teachers through to Headteachers have a role to play in delivering this goal; the focus of the session was how\u00a0leadersgo about selecting and recruiting new staff.<\/p>\n<p>The learning intentions for the session were<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 to have\u00a0 a clear understanding of revised strategy- know the big picture<\/p>\n<p>\u2022acquire new learning re behavioural event interviewing<\/p>\n<p>In turn, the participants noted it was &#8216;changed days&#8217; and that it was important to &#8216;know the processes&#8217;\u00a0 and also &#8216;to start to think of a long term strategy for talent management&#8217;. Another big question was &#8216;how do we grow and retain our own talent?&#8217; and that in times of fiscal constraint &#8221;how do we make sure we get a return on\u00a0our investment?&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Here is what some leaders are going to do in light of what they learned:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I need to look at staff development , thinking more about PTs moving on to becoming DHTs<\/li>\n<li>I am going to find out how to get involved in our assessment centres<\/li>\n<li>I can now apply further understanding\u00a0 to the planning and running of my future assessment centres<\/li>\n<li>I will attend the upcoming Selection and Recruitment training event<\/li>\n<li>I am speaking to others\u00a0so I can \u00a0clarify how to take forward recruiting a PT<\/li>\n<li>Go talent spotting!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Let&#8217;s end on this comment- it sums up where our leaders want to go:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #339966\"><strong>I got such a buzz out of this session- working as a collaborative is powerful !<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Anne Pearson, Curriculum Support Manager, led a staff development session with Early Years and Primary leaders looking at\u00a0 how talent is managed in Falkirk Education Services.\u00a0 This work relates to how we are managing change, which\u00a0in turn is \u00a0influenced by context and culture.
