Enterprise

We created a business along with the Primary 7’s in order to make money for our class trip. This involved a lot of hard work and skills. First we had to plan out our bake sale, then advertise it, next we had to make the biscuits then finally we sold our products. Our biscuits were a HUGE success and we managed to raise:

A huge thank you to everyone at Antonine Primary for their support during our task. We are looking forward to our next business venture as well as planning a fun school trip!

We learned about food hygiene. In particular how we should wash our hands. In pairs we made signs to help us remember.
We enjoyed making and icing our biscuits.
As you can see, we were very busy!

Science

During our science topic we learned about the water cycle. We investigated the process by making it rain in our classroom! We had lots of fun getting messy and especially seeing the results. Take a look!

Add the special ingredients.......
We have yellow rain!

Road Safety

As part of Road Safety Week, we learned our Green Cross Code using Street Wise. We learned that knowing your Green Cross is very important for keeping yourself and others safe when crossing the road. When reading “The Hodgeheg” by Dick King Smith, we realised why Max, the hedgehog, found it difficult to cross the road and we predicted solutions to help him. We really enjoyed reading a long chapter book and we became really interested in learning about hedgehogs.  Since it was coming up for winter hedgehogs were going into hibernation but we were lucky enough to have a visitor in our class called “Harry” who needed our advice. We wrote letters to Harry advising him on the process of hibernation. Harry is currently hibernating in our Reading Garden, we are looking forward to him waking up in the spring time!

We loved reading this book as a class.
Goodnight Harry, we shall see you in the Spring!

Outdoor Learning

In Primary 2/3 we enjoy learning outside as much as we do in our classroom. We have enjoyed being symmetry finders, season spotters, weather detectives and bird watchers in our playground. Have a look at us in action!

We used binoculars to help us spot different types of birds.
Using the binoculars was our favourite part!
We enjoyed investigating the signs of Autumn and Winter

Autumn Collage

From our investigations outside we made our own Autumn tree which displayed all the warm colours of Autumn. We enjoyed working together to complete our tree for our Reading Garden.

Internet Safety

During ICT time we learned about internet safety using Hector’s World. Hector gave us lots of tips to keep safe when on the internet, we used the information to make posters to help other pupils in our school.
Take a look for yourself: Hector’s World

Scottish Culture

During our first term in Primary 2/3 we learned about all the different aspects of Scottish Culture. We learned about Scottish myths such as Nessie the Loch Ness Monster, Scottish songs, language, food but our favourite part was learning about different Scottish instruments. We were lucky to have the opportunity to hear and hold some Scottish instruments, our favourite was the bagpipes. We didn’t realise how heavy they actually were so we decided to make some of our own which were a lot lighter and easier to play! Take a look at all our hard work.

Ask us to play your favourite Scottish song.
We enjoyed all our art activities especially learning how to make our own Tartan!
