Our Pupil Council meets every Friday as part of ‘Committees’ time to plan and carry out school improvements. Below is a summary of what Pupil Council have led on so far this session:<\/p>\n
Gathering Views<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Created an online questionnaire to gather views of pupils as to what they would like to see for school improvement<\/p>\n \u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Launched the \u2018Bucas Beachdan\u2019 at assembly for pupil views \u2013 checked weekly at pupil groups and actioned<\/p>\n Decider Skills<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Worked with Maggie Drummond (alongside Play Monitors) to receive intensive training on Decider Skills.<\/p>\n \u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u2018Launched\u2019 Decider Skills through information session at assembly (for pupils) and at Family Learning Event (for parents\/family members)<\/p>\n Playground Improvements<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Wrote letter to the Parent Council asking for support to improve school playground \u2013 improved markings and trim trail requested<\/p>\n \u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Community partnership made with OMac to lay new Playground Markings purchased by \u00a0the Parent Council<\/p>\n \u00b7\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Allocated available budget to be spent on new playground resources<\/p>\n Playground Behaviour<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Wrote simple Playground Expectations to ensure clarity for all.<\/p>\n \u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Introduced the \u2018Red and Yellow Card\u2019 system to work alongside the Playground Expectations & launched both at assembly.<\/p>\n STEM Area<\/strong><\/p>\n – Worked with Angela MacAskill, UHI STEM Lead, to carry out an audit of all our STEM resources and created a ‘wish list’ of new resources to be purchased.<\/p>\n – Created a STEM\/Outdoor Learning Area with lots of resources pupils can use independently and to support teachers.<\/p>\n Self Evaluation for School Improvement<\/strong><\/p>\n – Used hgiOURs Theme 2 \u2013 Teaching and Learning to conduct self evaluation \u2013 read over all the statements and categorised them by \u2018What we do well\u2019 and \u2018What we need to improve on\u2019.<\/p>\n Our Pupil Council meets every Friday as part of ‘Committees’ time to plan and carry out school improvements.
