This curriculum is called \u2018Curriculum for Excellence\u2019 (CfE).<\/p>\n<p>Children and young people\u2019s rights and entitlements are central to Scotland\u2019s curriculum and every child and young person is entitled to experience:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/education.gov.scot\/Documents\/btc3.pdf\"> a curriculum which is coherent from 3 to 18<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/education.gov.scot\/education-scotland\/scottish-education-system\/broad-general-education\/\">a broad general education<\/a>, including well planned <a href=\"https:\/\/education.gov.scot\/education-scotland\/scottish-education-system\/policy-for-scottish-education\/policy-drivers\/cfe-building-from-the-statement-appendix-incl-btc1-5\/experiences-and-outcomes\/\">experiences and outcomes<\/a> across all the curriculum areas from early years through to S3. This includes understanding the world, Scotland\u2019s place in it and the environment, referred to as Learning for Sustainability<\/li>\n<li>a <a href=\"https:\/\/education.gov.scot\/education-scotland\/scottish-education-system\/senior-phase-and-beyond\/senior-phase\/\">senior phase<\/a> after S3, which provides opportunities to attain and achieve, including to study for qualifications, awards and other planned activities to develop the four capacities<\/li>\n<li>opportunities for developing <a href=\"https:\/\/education.gov.scot\/education-scotland\/scottish-education-system\/policy-for-scottish-education\/policy-drivers\/developing-the-young-workforce-dyw\/\">skills for learning, skills for life and skills for work<\/a><\/li>\n<li>opportunities to maximise their individual potential, benefitting from appropriate <a href=\"https:\/\/education.gov.scot\/education-scotland\/scottish-education-system\/support-for-all\/\">personal support<\/a> and challenge<\/li>\n<li>support to help them move into positive and sustained destinations beyond school<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>CURRICULUM LEVELS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When children start in the Sgoil-\u00c0raich\/P1, they begin their learning journey at \u2018Early Level\u2019. They then move through curricular levels as they progress through the school. These are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Language and Literacy<\/li>\n<li>Mathematics and Numeracy<\/li>\n<li>Health and Wellbeing<\/li>\n<li>Expressive Arts<\/li>\n<li>Social Studies<\/li>\n<li>Sciences<\/li>\n<li>Religious and Moral Education<\/li>\n<li>Technologies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The curriculum is the totality of all that is planned for children and young people from early learning and childcare, through school and beyond. Teacher use the \u2018Experiences and Outcomes\u2019 documents for each curricular area in order to plan for progression in all eight curricular areas through the \u2018four contexts of learning\u2019.
