Fàilte bhon Cheannard / Welcome from the Head Teacher

Fàilte gu larach-lìn Bun-sgoil agus Sgoil-Àraich Ùige. Welcome to the website for Uig Primary School and Sgoil-Àraich. Our school is situated on the west coast of the Isle of Lewis, in the rural village of Timsgarry, Uig. We are a bilingual school with both Gàidhlig Medium and English Medium (Gaelic Learners) provision within the primary and a Gàidhlig Medium Sgoil-Àraich (Nursery). We currently have 32 pupils on the school role from Sgoil-Àraich to Primary 7.

I hope this site will provide you with all the information you and your child need about important aspects of school life – our vision, values and aims, our achievements, our policies and information on school improvement. It contains lots of practical details about school routines and procedures and signposts you to find information required which will assist you in becoming familiar with the life and work of your school and your child’s education.

I hope too that it will answer some of the questions you may have about how the school is organised, how we learn, and most importantly about how we care for the pupils entrusted to us. If, however, we have missed out anything that you need to know, please take the chance to ask me or one of my colleagues during any of our meetings or by contacting us by telephone or email.

If you are moving to the area and would like your son/daughter to visit the school, please contact us and we will be happy to arrange a visit. You will be given the relevant documentation and a tour of the school.

We have a great sense of pride in our wonderful little school and our beautiful community. We believe in partnerships between pupils, parents, staff and the local community. By building on these partnerships we hope to offer your child the best learning and teaching possible and to help them exceed their expectations.

On behalf of all the staff I extend a warm welcome to you and we look forward to having a very long and happy relationship with you and your child.

Cuimhnich, ann an Sgoil Ùige – Ri Chèile, Ruigidh Sinn na Reultan.

In Uig School – Together, We Will Reach for the Stars!

Leis gach deagh dhùrachd

AM Beaton
Acting Head Teacher
