Day 3 – prep day.

Hello from the challengers!

Today was our first day in Dar. We spent the day in the local markets sourcing food and equipment ready for our upcoming trekking days. The new smells were a shock to us – not quite the machair! Many of us, especially the boys, interacted with local people. They seemed to especially like Cailean for some reason. A local tried to buy our basin off us but we thought he was trying to buy Stephanie! We also went to the shopping mall and had lunch there. We are all now back in the hotel after a busy day planning and exploring. We are getting ready for a long 8 hour bus to our camp which we are all excited for.  Tomorrow we will arrive in our camp around 6pm ready for our first night of camping -wish us luck!

Bananas for lunch tomorrow.

Day 2 – travelling to Tanzania

Early morning wake up call for our flight this morning. Waiting for check in eating croissants.

Stage 2 – made it to Amsterdam. Now just waiting for our flight to Dar!

Making plans for the next stage of our adventure!

After 3 flights and what seemed to be 100 inflight meals, we arrived in the city about 11pm. After completing a few tasks we met out bus driver for our trip who drove us to Safari Inn, our home for the next 2 nights.

Shopping trip planned for our next day. We need to prepare for the next stage… the trek!

Thanks goes to Hannah today, our day 1 group leader.

Day 1 Ferry

Troops all set to go!

After a long day of travel we arrived in the hotel dafe and sound. A wee dash around Braehead and dinner at Soar to celebrate Fiona’s 18!!

Then we had a meeting with John our expedition leader and off to bed before our wake up call at 2am 😦

Build-up Day

Our build-up preparation day took place on the 3rd of June. We practiced putting up our tents and went through our kit with John, our expedition leader.
