The benefits of a dress code can be summarised as follows:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Differences between pupils are reduced, which in turn reduces some of the causes of isolation and bullying.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The self-esteem of particular groups of pupils can be improved.<\/li>\n<li>Security can be improved \u2013 it is easy to spot who does and who does not belong to the school community, especially on trips out of school.<\/li>\n<li>Pupils can feel a stronger sense of belonging and commitment to the school.<\/li>\n<li>It can improve the image of the school in the local community.<\/li>\n<li>It can create a sense of purpose within the school environment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Comhairle\u2019s Policy is that pupils attending schools within the Western Isles should wear school uniform. The policy, and guidelines on its implementation, are set out in Appendix J7 in the Schools Administration Handbook.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Parent Council supports the Head Teacher and the teaching staff in maintaining the high standard of appearance of all pupils. The appearance of pupils can reflect the quality of the school and it is therefore important that all pupils adhere to the dress code policy.\u00a0 We are confident that all parents share this view and will support the school by ensuring their child\/children attend school wearing the correct uniform.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>SCHOOL UNIFORM DRESS CODE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>There is a standard uniform for all pupils at Sgoil Uibhist a Tuath which consists of:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Purple school sweatshirt with school logo (scoop neck\/V-neck)<\/li>\n<li>Purple school cardigan with school logo<\/li>\n<li>Plain white polo-shirt (school logo optional)<\/li>\n<li>White blouse\/shirt<\/li>\n<li>School tie<\/li>\n<li>Plain <strong>black<\/strong> knee length skirt\/pinafore dress\/ trousers<\/li>\n<li><strong>NO jeans\/leggings\/skinny leg trousers<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Plain <strong>black<\/strong> trousers\/shorts (no jeans\/leggings\/skinny leg trousers)<\/li>\n<li>Purple check A-line dress (Summer months)<\/li>\n<li>Plain <strong>black<\/strong> tights or white\/black socks<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sports socks only to be worn during PE lessons<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Black<\/strong>, plain, formal and polished shoes (leather like \u2013 not canvas). <strong>Black<\/strong> trainer style shoes are not acceptable<\/li>\n<li>Plain <strong>black<\/strong>\/ white socks (sports socks only to be worn during PE lessons)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Black<\/strong>, plain, formal and polished shoes (leather like \u2013 not canvas). <strong>Black<\/strong> trainer style shoes are not acceptable<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>PE Kit <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Plain white T shirt (School logo optional)<\/li>\n<li>Plain <strong>black<\/strong> shorts\/sports leggings<\/li>\n<li>White socks or sports socks<\/li>\n<li>Plimsolls or trainers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>All PE kits should be free from any logo or brand name, apart from the school logo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>FORMAL OCCASIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Our uniform for formal occasions consists of:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Formal School Uniform<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>White shirt\/blouse<\/li>\n<li>School tie<\/li>\n<li><strong>Black <\/strong>knee length skirt or trousers<\/li>\n<li><strong>Black<\/strong> school trousers\/shorts<\/li>\n<li>Plain <strong>black<\/strong> tights or white socks<\/li>\n<li><strong>Black,<\/strong> plain, formal and polished shoes (leather like \u2013 not canvas). <strong>Black<\/strong> trainer style shoes are not acceptable<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Ordering Uniforms <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sgoil Uibhist a Tuath\u2019s uniform can be ordered through the school office.
