Complexity and tips

How complex does this need to be?

The app should be of a sufficient level of complexity for an SCQF level 6 Unit.

An information/multimedia app should have at least six separate pages, three types of media (text, images, animation, audio or video) and it should be possible to easily navigate between those pages.

A game application should contain at least four separate graphics and at least two sounds. The graphics could represent a main character, non-playable characters (NPCs), objects to be avoided or destroyed and pickups/collectables. Feel free to suggest alternatives. Perhaps you want more graphics and interactions but no sounds.

Any other types of applications should feature a similar level of complexity and should be discussed with your assessor before you start planning and developing them.

Tips

  • Don’t rush. Plan your time and stick to the timetable.
  • The final design doesn’t have to be the first step. Rough design, prototype, final design, finished application can sometimes be more useful.
  • Be honest in your evaluation. It’s better to find flaws in what you did rather than claim the application is perfect when it isn’t.
